Catch up!

It's been quite a while since I've blogged...I know. Now it's my turn to play catch up and let you know what has been going on in the DeBaun household.

The funniest thing, my upset post happened to be 2 days before I found out that Christian really was taken care of at Head Start so the week of school that he missed was a fluke. Apparently what happened is that Toomsuba, the branch that's supposed to be in charge of our little base Head Start didn't receive Christian's acceptance from the Jackson branch stating that he was accepted. So, Toomsuba called base and told them the news. Well, the Supervisor was apparently out on vacation that week so, of course, the next in command called to give me the bad news.

Monday that next week, I got a phone call from Ms. Kathy saying that he was approved on my birthday...way back in JUNE and that she had had to forward the letter to Toomsuba! It took me a while to decide whether or not I really wanted Christian to go back since I didn't feel like the whole program had it's act together! 3 months went by and NO ONE could figure out what was going on except for Ms. Kathy! BAH!!!

Needless to say, Christian is back in school, learning his letters and numbers by sight and also how to write them. Every Friday, he gets a 5 page packet for him to practice a letter and a number. I'm very proud of him, he's doing extremely well!

Thank you! Other than going to church and Christian going to school, that's about all that's been happening with us!

First day of school pictures, I'm only 2 months late with it! I know!!!

My Sunday...

Yesterday was so endearing. The kids and I went to church yesterday morning like we always do, but since Shane was on duty, we decided to go to the evening sermon also. We all know that Maranda doesn't like to be home alone...so, church is always a great idea!

Anyhow, after the sermon was over, we were walking out of the sanctuary when one of the elderly women of the church approached Sheila and I to tell us how proud of us she was. Wow, I thought! She said that she was so happy to see us up in the choir during the morning session and to see us there in the evening was even beter! Then told us again that she was proud of us. How often do you get that from a person that you've only seen a couple of times?

I thought it was great...

I'm so UPSET!

Ok...here's the scoop. Head Start is a government funded program...it's based on financial income to determine how much you pay per month, or if you do. Way back in May, the director said we made too much, but that it would be fine because they would use some deductions and Christian could go there without any "tuition," if you will.

Mid-August when I found out that he was accepted to the program, I didn't even recheck to see how the financial implications would pan out. Guess I should have so that TUESDAY of this week, TWO WEEKS after he started school, I wouldn't get a phone call saying that we're going to have to start paying for him to attend.

I wasn't upset by it, until I talked with the secretary in the office who told me that for him to continue, I would need to send a check in for $121.33. Not too bad, I thought until she said, every 2 weeks. Then, I was mad. Not only did they expect this money by the next business day, they gave me less than 3 hours to talk it over with Shane!

The next morning, I get a phone call from the woman at the program office in Toomsuba saying that they needed our 1040 to complete his application!

HELLO!! Have you not had over 3 freakin' months to get all this information from me?! Anyway, after that, I decided that I wasn't even going to take my time to track down my information and fax it over to them...

The only good thing about this is...I don't have to get up early anymore...oh yeah, and my son gets to stay home with me too! Just kidding, he's the only perk!

1 more day!

Sunday marks the end of Christian's school-less days because Monday morning...HE STARTS SCHOOL!!! I am so excited for him. We had Open House on Wednesday night and he was so cute running around the classroom playing with all the different toys that have in there. He was very into the hats...Fireman, police and all kinds of different hard hats.

I'll keep you updated!!!

Head Start to a suspended license

Today, I filled out the paperwork for Christian to go to Head Start here on base. We tried getting him into the preschool at the elementary school, but it's based on need there...I'm happy to report that he's too smart for their program. So, while he didn't make it into their program, I'm glad that he's smart!

There's a Head Start program here on base that we're trying to get him into...hopefully! We'll have to play the waiting game until the director calls or we get a letter in the mail notifying us. Keep our fingers crossed!

After filling out all the paperwork needed, driving home I got stopped by Security here on base for a random vehicle inspection. In the process of them checking out my record and making sure I had insurance...one of the officers informed me that my license was suspended! (Trust me, I was just as surprised) After a few seconds of me searching my brain frantically trying to recount the last few years of my life...the officer started laughing and told me that he was just kidding and that everything was fine and I was free to go! He then told me to go home and drink and drive...it would be on him. Right...I'm not that dumb!

Has it really been this long?

I didn't realize it had been almost 4 months since I last blogged. I guess when you find yourself really unhappy, it's hard to do the things you like most...even blogging. Sniff, sniff.

Things are going much better now...Brooklyn turned 2 in March and Shane is home...finally! He made it home on May 13, which just happened to be 4 days before our 5 year wedding anniversary! Yeah for us!!! He told me that he was supposed to come home last week, but because he told the command in Afghanistan that he had to be home before our anniversary, they granted him that week early! As much as I dispise the Navy sometimes, there are still some great people that try to help you as much as possible. Thank you to whoever saw fit to bring my hubby home for our anniversary!

Now he's off for a month and home with us. It's weird going back to having him here with us and it's taken a little adjustment for us to remember how things work with both of us. Anyway, that's about all that's new for us! Hopefully, it won't be another 4 months before I decide to write again...and...I'm happy to announce that I'm not having to take sleeping pills anymore. Shane coming home was an instant fix for me...woo hoo! Talk about someone affecting another huh?!?

Christian hugging his baby sister!

Hot chocolate is so yummy!!!

Christian can't keep the hot chocolate off his little nose...can you find it?
