From lazy to super busy!

The day before Brooklyn's birthday...we were busy, that's the only way to put it. The kids and I left the house this morning at 9am...we made stops at Lowe's to check for a rug for the girl's room, Geoffrey's for some birthday presents and then to Wal-Mart for some last minute things that I needed to prepare for tomorrow. Since tomorrow is our playgroup, I'm baking cupcakes to celebrate with everyone because it's just too much for me right now to have them all over to our house like we did for Christian's birthday. So, we came home at 12:30 and by 1, we were walking over to my friend Shawna's house because she, her husband and 2 sons just moved onto base. That was the last time that I sat down today...for about 2 hours, just relaxed and visited.

We got home and I immediately put Brooklyn down for a nap...and then realized, I'd better get those cupcakes going otherwise I'm going to have to wake up early tomorrow to do it. Over the years, mornings have gotten progressively worse for me. Anyway, Brooklyn down, cupcakes in the oven only to realize...Ahhh!!! I've only got as long as it takes for the cupcakes to bake to get ready for the volleyball GAME, not practice, game, at 5. I needed to leave at 4:15...talk about cutting it close. All went well though, got myself, Christian and Brooklyn ready to go while getting all the cupcakes baked thoroughly. Score 1 for me!!

I showed up this afternoon at the gym with babies in tow with my neighbor to signed me up to play volleyball with her. I walked in and pretended not to really know how to play to fit in a bit. I didn't want to come in and overstep any boundaries being the only civilian playing on the Marines team (and having a Navy hubby...there's an unsaid rivalry there). In fact...I even had to have a special release form for myself to play on their team considering that my husband is Navy...kinda stupid right???

After a while, the coach asked who had played before and a handful of us stepped out of the probably 20 people there. Skipping over the boring details...I played both games, didn't get subbed out...kicked butt over-hand serving, and even had a referee, after the game was over, come and shake my hand and tell me that I played really well! Every time I say that I still have to pick my jaw up off the floor...I was so happy to hear that. I found out later from my neighbor, Jonell, that there's another game tomorrow and I'm wanted there!!! Hooray for me! I'm so happy with myself!!! I even got a few little boo boo's too...my arms are bruised because they're not used to playing anymore and I scraped my knee...here we go again with the war wounds!

BIG sidenote...I turned Brooklyn's car seat around today so she could face the front...my little girl's growing up!!!

Way to go, Mar! You deserve some serious recognition for all YOU do...not just as a Super Mom (which you are, my hero!)...but just some recognition for YOU. I am so proud of you for getting out there and kicking some serious butt! You never should have had any doubts...I sure didn't! :)

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEET BROOKLYN!! I can't believe she's 1 already!
